Translation notes

Small choices shape a clear translation

Equalang keeps the information that makes a sentence useful, not just understandable.

Noun Case Endings

Polish inflects nouns and adjectives across seven cases, whereas English relies on fixed word order.

Nie widziałem tego nowego filmu.

I have not seen that new movie.

Verbal Aspect Distinctions

Polish verbs show completed or ongoing actions through distinct perfective and imperfective stems.

Wczoraj pisałem raport przez trzy godziny.

Yesterday I spent three hours writing the report.

Handling Articles

Polish has no articles, so translators use demonstratives or word order to convey definiteness.

A doctor called, but the doctor was busy.

Zadzwonił lekarz, ale ten lekarz był zajęty.

Honorific Titles for Address

Polish replaces informal address with 'pan' or 'pani' in polite contexts where English simply uses 'you'.

Could you please sign here?

Czy mógłby pan tutaj podpisać?

Common questions

Before you translate

How does the translator handle complex Polish noun cases and gender forms?

AI translation models analyze full sentences to select appropriate case endings and gender agreements. For legal contracts or critical papers, remember that a qualified human should check the final text.

Can I translate English video subtitles and browse web pages in Polish?

Yes, you can use the browser extension to translate web pages and video subtitles with the original text shown beside the Polish translation. You can also paste up to 100,000 characters into the web translator at once.

How well is formatting preserved, and what are the limitations?

Formatting is kept as far as possible: PDF translations keep columns, headers and footers, captions, and paragraph levels, bold text stays bold, links in the table of contents and cross-references still work, and sentences split across page breaks are rejoined before translating; Word, PowerPoint, and EPUB files keep their formatting as far as possible, and Excel numbers and formulas are left as they are. Font sizes and line breaks may adjust when translation length changes, and complex layouts, scanned PDFs, heavy watermarks, or language-dependent Excel text formulas should still be checked against the original in the side-by-side workspace.

How is text translation billed, and can I try it out first?

New accounts receive 200 credits to try it out, and purchased credits never expire and are shared across the website and extensions (the smallest pack is $10 for 10,000 credits). Text translation is billed by length at 10 credits per 1,000 tokens, where 1,000 tokens is roughly 750 English words or 1,000 Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, or Hindi characters.

How is my privacy protected and how long are uploaded files kept?

Uploaded files and translated results are kept for 14 days so you can view and download them, then removed from access, and you can request deletion of your submitted content and account data at any time. Equalang does not sell personal data or use your submitted or translated content to train AI models.
