Translation notes

Small choices shape a clear translation

Equalang keeps the information that makes a sentence useful, not just understandable.

Subject Omission in Context

Korean naturally omits obvious subjects, whereas English requires them for grammatical completeness.

Did you receive the email I sent yesterday?

어제 보낸 이메일 받으셨나요?

Politeness and Honorific Endings

Korean verbs change endings based on formality, which English conveys through vocabulary and phrasing.

회의 일정을 변경해도 될까요?

Would it be possible to reschedule the meeting?

Passive Voice Naturalization

English frequently uses passive voice, while Korean sounds more natural with active phrasing.

The project was approved by the director.

이사님이 프로젝트를 승인했습니다.

Flexible Plural Marking

Korean often leaves plurals implicit unless quantity is emphasized, unlike mandatory English plurals.

사과 세 개 주세요.

Please give me three apples.

Common questions

Before you translate

How does the translation handle Korean honorifics and speech levels?

The AI infers the appropriate level of politeness from surrounding context, though business and official texts should be reviewed by a human. You can easily adjust the tone directly in the editor.

Can I translate web pages or English videos with Korean subtitles?

Yes, using the browser extension, you can translate entire web pages and view video subtitles side by side with the original English.

How well is formatting preserved, and what are the limitations?

Formatting is kept as far as possible: PDF translations keep columns, headers and footers, captions, and paragraph levels, bold text stays bold, links in the table of contents and cross-references still work, and sentences split across page breaks are rejoined before translating; Word, PowerPoint, and EPUB files keep their formatting as far as possible, and Excel numbers and formulas are left as they are. Font sizes and line breaks may adjust when translation length changes, and complex layouts, scanned PDFs, heavy watermarks, or language-dependent Excel text formulas should still be checked against the original in the side-by-side workspace.

How is text translation billed, and can I try it out first?

New accounts receive 200 credits to try it out, and purchased credits never expire and are shared across the website and extensions (the smallest pack is $10 for 10,000 credits). Text translation is billed by length at 10 credits per 1,000 tokens, where 1,000 tokens is roughly 750 English words or 1,000 Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, or Hindi characters.

How is my privacy protected and how long are uploaded files kept?

Uploaded files and translated results are kept for 14 days so you can view and download them, then removed from access, and you can request deletion of your submitted content and account data at any time. Equalang does not sell personal data or use your submitted or translated content to train AI models.
