Translation notes

Small choices shape a clear translation

Equalang keeps the information that makes a sentence useful, not just understandable.

Right to Left Directionality

Arabic reads right-to-left, requiring careful alignment and layout mirroring for bidirectional content.

Dual Grammatical Number

Arabic uses a specific dual form for two entities, which English expresses with the numeral two and plural.

حضر الاجتماع مهندسان جديدان.

Two new engineers attended the meeting.

Verb Initial Word Order

Standard Arabic typically places verbs before subjects, whereas English uses subject-verb-object order.

The committee approved the budget.

وافقت اللجنة على الميزانية.

Irregular Broken Plurals

Arabic forms plurals through internal vowel shifts, treating non-human plurals as feminine singular.

نشرت الصحيفة مقالات وكتبًا مهمة.

The paper published important articles and books.

Common questions

Before you translate

How does Equalang handle cultural idioms and proverbs between English and Arabic?

Equalang uses AI to understand figurative expressions and provide culturally natural phrasing in both languages. Because metaphorical nuances can vary across cultures, important texts should be reviewed by a specialist.

Can Equalang translate live spoken conversations between English and Arabic speakers?

Yes, Equalang allows live speech translation for face-to-face conversations as well as for listening. Since dialects and acoustic conditions can vary, a person should verify important conversations.

How well is formatting preserved, and what are the limitations?

Formatting is kept as far as possible: PDF translations keep columns, headers and footers, captions, and paragraph levels, bold text stays bold, links in the table of contents and cross-references still work, and sentences split across page breaks are rejoined before translating; Word, PowerPoint, and EPUB files keep their formatting as far as possible, and Excel numbers and formulas are left as they are. Font sizes and line breaks may adjust when translation length changes, and complex layouts, scanned PDFs, heavy watermarks, or language-dependent Excel text formulas should still be checked against the original in the side-by-side workspace.

How is text translation billed, and can I try it out first?

New accounts receive 200 credits to try it out, and purchased credits never expire and are shared across the website and extensions (the smallest pack is $10 for 10,000 credits). Text translation is billed by length at 10 credits per 1,000 tokens, where 1,000 tokens is roughly 750 English words or 1,000 Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, or Hindi characters.

How is my privacy protected and how long are uploaded files kept?

Uploaded files and translated results are kept for 14 days so you can view and download them, then removed from access, and you can request deletion of your submitted content and account data at any time. Equalang does not sell personal data or use your submitted or translated content to train AI models.
